About Bolt

What is Bolt?

Bolt (bolt.new) is a browser-based AI app builder from StackBlitz, which has been building in-browser dev tooling since 2017. The Bolt product launched on October 3, 2024 and quickly became one of the fastest-growing developer tools on record: around $4M ARR in four weeks and roughly $40M ARR within five months, with more than 5 million users and close to a million new signups per month.

What makes Bolt unusual is that the entire dev environment runs inside your browser via StackBlitz's WebContainers, so prompt-to-running-app is near-instant, with one-click deploy to Netlify.

For billing, Bolt supports Stripe, but the integration is more developer-driven than chat-guided with no conversational setup flow like Lovable's, and the payment connector ecosystem beyond Stripe is limited. What Bolt doesn't ship: customer wallets, usage-based metering, real-time spend limits, or a hosted customer billing portal.

Customer portal

A branded billing experience you don't need to build

Give your customers the billing experience they expect. The fully managed Credyt portal handles top-ups, balance tracking, and usage history.

Then add billing components to your own UI with a single prompt. No frontend engineering, no backend, no webhooks.

Pricing models

Which pricing models can I use with Bolt?

Bolt doesn't include billing. You shipped your app, then hit billing and it stopped being simple. Stripe is complex. You just want something that works.

Credyt is a drop-in billing solution, just a prompt away. Start with the model that makes sense today. Change it later without touching your code.

Not sure what to charge yet? Start with a simple fixed fee subscription. Then track your usage costs from day one so you know if your pricing needs to change.

Step-by-step guide

How do I add billing to my Bolt app?

First, create your free Credyt account

After signing up, copy your API key from Developer settings and follow the steps below.

1

Add the MCP server

In your Bolt project, open Connectors → Manage connectors → Custom MCP server and create a new entry.

NamecredytURLhttps://mcp.credyt.aiAuthorizationBearer key_your_api_key_here

Replace the placeholder with your API key from the Developers section of your Credyt dashboard.

2

Set up your pricing in Credyt

Open a new chat in Bolt and paste this prompt. It installs the Credyt AI skills, then walks you through choosing a pricing model and configures your products automatically.

Run "npx skills add credyt/ai-tools" — then setup Credyt
3

Integrate the billing UX

Paste this prompt. Bolt wires up billing components, including a balance display, directly in your app. For the full portal experience, direct your users to your Credyt billing portal where they can view usage and top up.

Integrate Credyt billing into my app

Frequently asked questions

Connect Credyt to your Bolt project by adding the Credyt MCP server under Connectors → Manage connectors → Custom MCP server. Then run two prompts: one to configure your pricing model, and one to wire the billing portal into your app. Bolt handles the integration — no backend, no SDK, no manual code.
